Buying a business, or trying to fix one? Let's look at the real numbers.

Whether you are evaluating a business to purchase or your own business is not producing the profit it should, the answer is in the numbers. I am Parm Shergill, a licensed CPA and former CRA auditor with 10 years inside the agency, and I help business owners see exactly where they stand before they make a costly decision.

One focused consultation. A clear assessment of your numbers. No obligation.

Two situations, one answer

Which one describes you?

Both come down to the same thing: knowing what the numbers are truly telling you before you commit time, money, or a signature.

You are thinking about buying a business

A business can look profitable on paper and still be a poor investment. Before you sign, I help you confirm the profit is genuine, review the true cash flow, and understand the tax implications and deal structure, so you know precisely what you are buying.

Your business is not producing profit

Revenue is coming in and you are working harder than ever, yet the money never seems to be there. I help you identify exactly where your profit is going, why your margins are slipping, and what to change to keep more of what you earn.

Is this right for you?

Who this is for.

This is for you if
  • You are considering buying a business and want the numbers verified first
  • You operate a business and cannot see where your profit is going
  • Your revenue is healthy, yet your bank balance never reflects it
  • You want to know which jobs, products, or clients are genuinely profitable
  • You want a clear plan, not simply another set of statements
This is not for you if
  • You require only a basic tax return filed, with no further analysis
  • You are seeking the lowest possible price rather than the right answer
  • You are not prepared to examine your own numbers candidly
  • You want someone simply to confirm what you already believe

What we will go over.

We examine your numbers with the same rigour as a CRA auditor, but working in your interest. Depending on your situation, that includes:

True profit, not just revenue
What the business actually keeps after every real cost, not the top-line figure.
Cash flow versus profit
Why a profitable business can still feel constrained, and how to correct the timing.
Margins and pricing
Where your costs and pricing are out of balance, and what it is costing you.
Profit verification (for buyers)
Whether a seller's reported earnings are genuine, repeatable, and sustainable.
Tax implications and structure
How your structure, or a purchase, is taxed, including asset versus share considerations.
Your clear next steps
Practical, specific actions you can take right away, whatever your situation.

Good to know

Common questions.

What should I prepare before the consultation?
Bring whatever financial information you have available, such as recent financial statements, your bookkeeping records, or a general summary of your revenue and expenses. The more complete the information, the more precise the analysis. If you are evaluating a business to purchase, bring any financials the seller has provided.
My records are incomplete or disorganized. Is that a problem?
No. Disorganized records are one of the most common reasons owners cannot see their true profit. Part of the engagement is making sense of the information you have and bringing it to a point where your numbers provide clear, reliable answers.
Who will I be working with?
You work directly with Parm Shergill, a licensed Chartered Professional Accountant and former CRA auditor, operating Brookside CPA Inc. from an office in Surrey, BC. You are not handed off to a junior or a call centre.
Can you advise on a business I am considering buying?
Yes, and the earlier the better. The review covers whether the reported profit is genuine, what the business truly generates in cash flow, and the tax implications and structure of the purchase. Verifying these before you sign is considerably less costly than correcting a poor acquisition afterward.
What happens after the consultation?
You leave with a clear understanding of your financial position and concrete next steps. If ongoing support would benefit you, we can discuss how that would work. If a single consultation meets your needs, that is entirely appropriate as well.

Make your decision with clarity.

Whether you are buying a business or fixing your own, a single consultation can replace uncertainty with a clear, actionable plan. Book a time and we will review your numbers together.
